The Maker’s Loop: Creating Opportunity and Reducing Risk by Binding Time
A Presentation by Michael T. Kelly, PhD
Let’s say we wake up one morning and don’t like the world in which we find ourselves. Do we sleep it off, buy lottery tickets, or do we do something about it? If we decide to become players, how do we accomplish that effectively, efficiently, and wisely? This presentation introduces the Maker’s Loop a method for making the world a better place by creating smarter futures.
We are empowered to influence our reality by understanding how our now evolves. The key to making organizations and societies vibrant is to treat the future as a process rather than a thing. When we don’t like the now in which we find ourselves, we can identify the attractors that are influencing it and replace them with better ones. The more points or seeds of attraction we plant, the more quickly a future that suits us emerges.
The Maker’s Loop integrates six dynamic interdependencies (CISRPA) into a process for creating sustained attraction. Maker’s Loops help us build organizational systems that anticipate and create as well as react quickly, that can systematically make wise decisions, and can promote transactionally efficient collaborative behavior. The Maker’s Loop works like the keel on a sailboat that grabs the sea so that the sails can harness the wind, only our sea is time, our sails are dreams, and the wind is reality.
